Master We Perish

Jesus calms the sea

Text from the King James Version of the Bible

Music and Additional Lyrics by Vaughn W North

There were many miracles performed by Jesus Christ during his ministry. We will view two of them: the calming of the sea and the raising of Lazarus from dead. After teaching and performing many miracles around Galilee, Christ and His apostles set sail across the Sea of Galilee.

“But…He fell asleep…and there came down a storm… And they came to Him…saying, Master we perish… And He arose, and He rebuked the wind…” Luke 8:22-25

Text:

Now it came to pass on a certain day,

That Jesus went into a ship with His disciples.

And as they sailed, he fell asleep.

And there rose forth a storm of wind, a storm at sea.

And they called to Him, “Master, we perish!

Come to our aid; come, oh Master we perish.”

And He arose, and rebuked the wind.

And He arose, and rebuked the water... “Peace be still.”

And they wondered, what manner of Man is this?

For He commandeth the winds and the water, and they obey.

And they pondered the words of the Palmist,

“They see the works of the Lord; and His wonders in the deep.

He maketh the storm a calm.

What manner of Man; oh what manner of Man?

He calms the sea; the waves are still.

What manner of Man...the Lord our God.”
